Per City Code, signs that extend over the right-of-way are required to apply for a revocable permit. Please contact Kurt Schmitt, Program Coordinator Sign Specialist/Sign Enforcement, at 719-385-5072 or via email kurt.schmitt@coloradosprings.gov for questions. Upon spproval please submit the Revocable Permit documentation with the formal sign permit application.
Per formal review the square footage for the proposed signage for the existing awning is over the allowable. The awning is measured by the linear length of the awning (not by the business linear length) to determine the maximum square footage for the proposed awning sign. The formula is a maximum of 0.5 sq. ft. for each linear foot of the awning side. Re-submit the sign package to include the linear length dimension of all sides of the awning on the elevation drawing. Also, provide dimension from the base of the sign on the awning to the ground level of the sidewalk on the elevation drawing.
