ON0033671: Office space and the unfinished basement are not considered actual bedrooms by Public Health unless it has a closet or is completely finished, therefore the sizing of the septic system is correctly shown on the septic permit. The permit covers the number of bedrooms that will actually be constructed rather than the potential number of bedrooms the house could have. If the owner decides to complete the unfinished basement with extra bedrooms a few years from now, then and only then will they be required to upgrade the speptic system to the proper sizing that is based on the actual number of bedrooms.
